Regional Relays (8th Nov) Nominations Closing soon

Metro North Regional Relay on the 8th November (at City North) nominations are closing this week !!

The Regional Relay day (Saturday 8th November) is the one event in the Little Athletics calendar where your child gets the opportunity to represent City North Little Athletics as a member of a team. We strongly encourage all City North athletes to attend.

The Regional Relay day has a real carnival atmosphere and City North has the honour this year of hosting this event. We will have special guests, competitions, lots of food and giveaways. Our club will compete against the other clubs in our region and we want you to be a part of it.

For the first time City North is hosting this Little Athletics Queensland event. City North is responsible for the Grounds, Equipment and Canteen, the latter requiring the most volunteers from our club. A 1-2 hour roster will be set up. Please volunteer for this short period to help City North host a successful event. A volunteer signup sheet will be available from Saturday 25th of October at the canteen.

This competition is open to all of our registered athletes where we compete against other clubs in our region such as Aspley, The Gap, Bracken Ridge, Redcliffe, Strathpine and Arana.

The timetable for the competition can be found here and the nomination form here. Nominations need to be submitted to our canteen by no later than Saturday 25th of October. Cost is $2.50 per event. There are both running and field events available. An athlete should only nominate for a running relay event if the athlete can definitely attend. The running relay events are a team event and please do not nominate if you are not sure on attendance. The maximum number of events per athlete is 5 - 2 running relays and 3 field events. Most athletes nominate in all 5. We cannot guarantee that an athlete will be placed in 2 running relays - this will depend on numbers per age group but most athletes are able to be placed in 2 running relays. The top 3 teams in each event at Regional Relays progress to the State Relays in mid-December. The field events are made up of teams of 2 - the first 2 from each club in each event form a team.

There is no need to put together a team - just nominate. Teams will be put together based on numbers nominated in each age group and performances at Windsor Park.

All athletes are encouraged to nominate especially as we are hosting this year. Relay training will commence shortly during our Tuesday and Thursday night training. Athletes who are in their first year at the club are encouraged to nominate. Nominations will be taken at the canteen from Thursday night at training and will continue up to and including Saturday 25th of October. No late nominations after 25th of October can be excepted.

The event starts at 8:30am, it is very important that you are there at least ½ an hour prior to your event starting.

If you are attending you must wear full club uniform with shorts, pants, club shirt number and age patch.

Please click here for the nomination form for your child. As there is a lot to do to organise the teams for the events. We would really appreciate that if you intend on coming, that you fill out the attached nomination form and email us back as soon as you can.

We will be accepting payments for this via cash, direct deposit or you can pay via Credit card this Tuesday and Thursday nights. If you pay via direct deposit please ensure you bring your payment receipt for easier processing.

Once nominations are closed there is no opportunity to be part of this event.

Please don't let your child miss out on competing in a great family day out at Windsor Park. Prior to November 8 the club will run practice relay sessions for your child to practise their baton changes with athletes in their age group.

If you have any questions email the committee or call David on 0410 657 252 or email us back.

Aspley vs City North

This was held last Saturday morning, the results compared both clubs in each age group for 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions. 125 City North athletes joined in on the fun for our maiden competition against Aspley this year. The final score was 199 Aspley, City North 353.

Thank you to all the volunteer parents and the Aspley team, the day was a great success.
