Met North Championships Nominations close TODAY
Dear Athletes, Parents and Coaches,
A further reminder that nominations close *TODAY* for the Met North Regional Track and Field Championships. Nominations will not be accepted after the close date. For aspiring athletes Regional Championships is both a fun and challenging experience. Met North region is one of the most competitive regions in Queensland so success should be measured as much by participation as outright placing.
*What is it?*
The Regional Championships is an individual competition for all the Athletes in the Met North Little Athletics region. The Regional Championships are open to all athletes in the U7 to U17 age groups. Almost all events offered at City North (plus Walks!) for an age group are open for competition at Regionals. Progression for most track events for U9+ is Heats to Finals.
U9+ Athletes who place in the first 3 places in an Event final are awarded with medals. Younger athletes receive a participation award.
U9+ Athletes who place 1st to 4th in a Regional Event Final are also automatically eligible to progress to the Queensland State Championships in March. An athlete who competes in a Regional final and achieves the Queensland State “Qualifying Performance Level” are also eligible to progress to the State Championships. Under 13 and Under 15 athletes may be further eligible to compete at the Australian Little Athletics titles
*When is it?*
The Met North Regional Championships are held over 2 and a bit days, from the evening of Friday 3rd February to Sunday 5th February. Regionals are being hosted at the Strathpine Little Athletics Centre at Murrumba Downs. This is the same venue as the Regional Relays.
Events are scheduled over different days. The Event schedule can be found both on the LAQ website and in the Documents section of TeamApp.
*How do I nominate?*
Complete a nomination form and return it by the close of competition on SATURDAY 21st JANUARY. Nominations forms can be sent electronically via email to info@citynorthlas.asn.au, or in person to the Registrar at the City North Club House during competition today (Saturday 21st January). Nominations forms must be accompanied by payment to be accepted.

How much does it cost?
Entry cost is $10 per athlete. An athlete can nominate in up to 5 events.
Payment can be via EFTPOS at the clubhouse during competition day (TODAY) or via EFT transfer to the City North Bank account.
