Parent Info

Parents, Guardians and Friends play an integral role in the success and enjoyment of Little Athletics.

Saturday Competitions requires a large number of officials and volunteers every week to run properly and for this reason, parent/guardian involvement is essential.  If there are not enough officials to run the program properly, it is the children who will be disadvantaged.  Please get involved and help whenever you can.  You'll find out that it is very fulfilling and lots of fun.

Adults can help out in the following ways:

  • Age marshalling - every week there is a need for at least three adults to accompany each age group to each event and record the children's performances, spike, place judge, retrieve implements, measure distances, etc.
  • Controlling an event for the afternoon
  • Attend Parent Officials nights - these are free and allow parents to become qualified in a particular discipline of interest.
  • Sponsorship -  We need local business support. If you are interested in supporting City North Little Athletics and wish to be recognised, business sponsorship packages are available.
  • Support our family fund raising events. Become a Parent Age Group Coordinator - As an experienced Little Athletics parent, you can assist new member's parents understand what goes on at City North Little Athletics. You can encourage parent involvement and be a point of contact for parents of children in their respective age group.
  • Pull-Down / Set-up equipment - every week on Saturdays there is a need for at least two adults to assist our committee these duties. This could range from setting up and pulling down tents, placing equipment, racking and preparing the sand pits.

Why not be involved with the future direction of City North Little Athletics. Be part of a progressive Management Committee (Committee). Being a member of our Committee for a season or more can be very rewarding and also a lot of fun. Parents who are elected to the Committee have their Area and Canteen Bonds waived for the coming season.

The Arena and Setup and Pack-up Bonds cost $80 per family and consist of 2 components.  The first component is for Arena Volunteering and is $50. This is refundable when partents/guardians assist at 8 or more Saturday competitions 8 and have signed the Volunteer Roster. The second component is $30 and is refundable if you assist with the set-up and pull-down 3 or more times during the season. You must sign the applicable Volunteer Roster as this is the only record we have that indicates that you have helped.

Those families that have helped the required number of times and that are re-registering usually role over the previous season's bonds, ie are not charged the bonds the following season. A refund can be requested if you do not intend to enrol your child the following season.  Information about who is entitled to a refund is calculated just prior to the start of the new season. However, if you are not planning to come back and have actively helped the Club we are happy to arrange for a refund of this.

Parents, please remember that WE ARE NOT A CHILD MINDING ORGANISATION.  We understand that work and other commitments may prevent you from staying every Saturday, but it is essential that your child has another adult who has agreed to take responsibility for them.  This is not only necessary in case of accident or illness, but the program may finish early for many reasons - rain, small numbers etc.  If this occurs, it is not fair that Club Committee Members are left minding your child long after the day's events are over.  Importantly it is distressing for the child to be left after everyone else has gone.
